David Webbe is a Partner, Managing Director, Global Head of Investment Banking and Private Equity based in the Singapore office of Global Sage. David leads the global practice and also has responsibility for the South East Asia region. He is a highly experienced search professional with a keen understanding of the banking industry as well as executives’ strengths and capabilities. He also has extensive experience in private equity deal decision-making and the skills required from professionals to secure the best returns for investors. He joined Global Sage after five years at Korn Ferry, where he was Senior Client Partner and Head of Global Financial Services for South East Asia.

Previously, David was a Managing Director of Webbe International, a boutique financial services search firm in Singapore. He played a key role in the development of the business when he moved to Asia in 2002. He has been consistently ranked as a leading professional in the field, achieving a No. 2 ranking in 2006, in the AsiaMoney Headhunters Poll for the investment banking category. David holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from the University of Kent, Canterbury.

Mathew Welch has some 25 years of senior executive experience in financial markets in Asia, having built businesses and led teams, executed transactions and managed projects in most major Asian countries. Mathew is also an experienced Independent Board Director in Banking and the Financial Sector.

He brings to Global Sage strong domain knowledge across Wholesale and Investment Banking, Insurance, Asset Management, Corporate Governance and FinTech. Mathew has worked for McKinsey, Merrill Lynch, Temasek, Standard Chartered Bank, ING, and Daiwa, including roles at Managing Director level, through an outstanding career across Asia.  He was, for example, an MD at Temasek Holdings investing in Financial Institutions, and prior to that he was at Standard Chartered as Head of the Financial Institutions Group in Asia, overseeing all their business with banks and insurance companies.

Educated in the United States and the UK, Mathew has an MBA degree with high distinction from the Harvard Business School (1993) and holds an MA Degree in Oriental Studies (Chinese) from the University of Oxford.

Alastair Bruce has over twenty-five years’ experience gained in the financial services sector as an equity trader and institutional sales with two respected blue-chip organisations in the U.K. and in the Far East, and more recently as a senior executive search consultant in the UK and Asia. He has carried out senior assignments for many of the leading investment, corporate and private banks and asset management organisations across the Asian region. Alastair came to Asia in 1995 after completing an MBA from Cranfield School of Management and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Birmingham University in the UK.

Terence Ho is a Partner, Managing Director of Global Sage and has over 15 years of executive search experience in Asia Investment Banking (IB) and Private Equity (PE). Based in Singapore, he specializes in placing candidates across M&A, ECM, Corporate Finance, Country Coverage and Industry teams in Asia. He has a strong track record of completing searches in PE at all levels for Sovereign Wealth Funds, Mega Funds, Mid-Market and Growth Equity Funds and selected C-suite roles for corporates and digital banks. Prior to joining Global Sage in 2020, Terence ran the Asia IB and PE search practice at ALS International. He started his executive search career with Webbe International in 2006. Toshio Wada is a Senior Advisor in the Tokyo office of Global Sage. Toshio’s diversified career experience spans three parts: The first twenty years in commercial and investment banking at Morgan Stanley and Industrial Bank of Japan; the second fifteen years in asset management at Pension Fund Association and BNP Paribas Investment Partners; and a third leg of five years in startup management in the capacity of CEO Japan of a blockchain company and CFO of a battery R&D venture. Toshio brings a wealth of industry knowledge as well as a vast professional network of people to the firm. He holds a BA in Economics from Keio University and an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France. He speaks fluent English, French, and Japanese.
